Project Overview

This one came from a real moment, not a brief. I was riding through Bangalore on my bike one night and passed a rickshaw completely decked out in reflective, sparkly decoration. The kind of everyday city object that somehow looks half-magical under streetlight. It stuck with me long enough that I decided to build a whole personal project around it.

Our Approach

The piece is built around a simple, almost universal feeling. A long night drive through a busy city, friends in tow, no real destination, just the ride itself. I wanted to design an original character to go with that feeling, and then give him a vehicle that matched: a rickshaw redesigned and modeled from scratch, pushed into something more stylized and a little more alive than the ones you actually see on the road.

The Making Of

The rickshaw redesign was really the anchor of the piece. I kept the silhouette recognizable enough to still read as "rickshaw," but leaned into the sparkle and ornamentation that caught my eye in the first place, treating it almost like a character in its own right rather than just a prop.

Alongside it, I designed and modeled an original rider. Someone who belongs on that rickshaw, cap on, completely at ease in the chaos of a night drive. The two needed to feel like they'd been built for each other: a character who fits his vehicle, and a vehicle with enough personality to carry a character.

Final Outcome

The Late Night Drive turned a small, fleeting moment on a bike ride into a full character and vehicle design study. Proof that a lot of city nights already carry the kind of atmosphere and story worth designing around, if you're paying attention on the way home.
