Concept
Facade was a student film in development since my Sophmore year. Initially I had written down points about how I wanted to the film to potray the feeling of a new commer as these were some of what I experienced when I firsted moved to the hostel and living on campus. This story illustrates how Adam (the protagonist), a new employee at a firm, experiences overthinking and specifically Anticipation Anxiety.
Process
By utilizing simple shapes, exaggerated features, and emphatic expressions, I sought to convey the drama and tension of the story via the character design.
Storyboarding
The second stage included storyboarding and finalizing the script.
Treatment Frames
Defining the look and feel of the film. I experimented with the Evee renders and 2d comic effects to get a stylized look to the entire film. Blender the open-source software was flexible with making multiple styles.
Conclusion:
The entire project was the first short film I had directed, scripted, and animated within a six-month time frame. Achieving this was a great learning experience for me. I also gained a deeper understanding of storytelling through character animation.
